The 12U travel team is a competitive baseball program made up of 12 year old Brookfield majors level players. All players must be age 12 by April 30, 2019, and must attend a minimum of 50% of the BBSA Majors season in order to be eligible to try out for the summer travel teams. A tryout will be held in early spring. The 12-player team will be selected by independent evaluators from the BBSA. Once a team has been picked, practices will begin during the player’s regular majors season. Beginning in May to the end of July there will be a commitment of 4 to 5 days a week, this includes games and practices. Our assigned practice day is Friday but other days will be added once the majors season ends. The potential towns we could play are Danbury, Newtown, New Milford, Bethel, New Fairfield, Monroe, Norwalk, Easton, Redding, Milford and Southbury. The more we advance in tournament play, the farther we may travel.
Beginning Memorial Day Weekend, we participate in a Frozen Ropes tournament at the Rock sports center in Chester, NY where we will play a minimum of 3 games. Early June is the start of the Bethel Jimmy Fund Tournament which is double elimination. Beginning in June is the Cal Ripken Babe Ruth District tournament. Along with these games, the Beast will be participating in the Babe Ruth Xtreme league with games scheduled around the above mentioned tournaments. We close out the season participating in an overnight weekend tournament the end of July. The regular travel season will run through to the end of July but success in the Cal Ripken Tournaments may continue into August.
The cost per player is approximately $425* which covers:
- Tournament fees
- Full Game uniforms
- Practice uniforms
- League fees
*Cost does not include hotel and expenses for last weekend tournament.
All players are be expected to participate the entire season.
The Beast winter workouts are in February but are currently restricted to returning players.
Team tryouts will be held in the spring at Gray's Bridge Field. Date and time: TBD
